Mística & Rústica is made using grapes from two small Xarel·lo vineyards on the family-owned Montpedrós estate, at an elevation of around 420 metres above sea level.
The terraces, cultivated in accordance with the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, are planted with bush-trained vines in what’s known as “marc de cavall” (horse frame). With this style of planting, vineyard work can only be performed manually.
The two vineyards are arranged in terraced slopes bounded by drystone walls and huts. Gently sloping towards the east, the vineyards’ soils are notable for the presence of carniola stones, which are characteristic of the area and have a distinctive porous texture and rusty colour.
